The Regina Horticultural Society is dedicated to keeping the City of Regina and Saskatchewan green and beautiful. Through education and community involvement the society teaches and practices gardening specific to our Canadian climate zone . The society encourages and supports all who have a green thumb, and those that hope to acquire one.

Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup
Started in 1994, the Cleanup is a national conservation program that began with a handful of Vancouver Aquarium employees and volunteers.
The program takes place every September and now boasts over 57,000 volunteers and 1,568 cleanup sites across Canada.
In Saskatchewan alone, over 1,590 kg of litter was removed from 104 km of shoreline.
This year the Regina Horticultural Society is committed to becoming involved in this special event and has chosen the shoreline, which runs through the Rotary and Kiwanis Parks between Albert Street and Elphinstone Street.
Anyone wishing to come out for three hours of fresh autumn air Sunday September 26th 2010 from 1: 00 to 4:00 P.M. and help our members in this worthwhile cause may contact Robin @ 543-8971 email: grow@reginahortsociety.com to be added to our volunteer listing.
Please check out our September Calendar page for further details.
The Canadian Tomato Project
With an ever increasing interest in eating healthier and an economy which is slowly recovering, more and more people are looking to plant gardens and grow their own vegetables, and more and more of these people are becoming interested in heritage vegetables.
What are heritage vegetables? Heritage vegetables are varieties that have been passed on from generation to generation through seed collection and have not been crossed with other lines known as Hybrids. The characteristics of heritage plants remain true to their original form, with most being more flavourful than the hybrid varieties.
Because of this, the Regina Horticultural Society undertook to promote and encourage the Canadian Tomato Project earlier this Spring by selling packets of heritage seeds to the public in the hopes that they will continue to collect the seed each year for themselves and others, Please Read On .
We hope that everyone who purchased seeds from us this year, has success with their plants, and we encourage everyone to try collecting seeds from these tomatoes to use for the upcoming years and also to join with us next Spring at our Seed Exchange being held in Regina. Details to be announced early next year.
